Summer Holiday in St. Tropez

Summer Holiday in St. Tropez
There is something so dreamy about the South of France. The rolling hills and vineyards, charming seaside villages characterized by the prettiest peachy-pink stucco and mint green shutters. St. Tropez is no exception - a little gem of a fishing village made famous by the likes of Matisse, Coco Chanel & Brigitte Bardot.  With its glamorous beach clubs, mouth watering meals, flowing rosé, climbing bougainvillea and the best kind of people watching… it is glamorous, at times over the top, but just totally fun and it’s a summer spot I’ve always loved since I was a young teen.

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting again with my husband & dear friends. Here is a recap of our favorites from the trip!

Where We Stayed:

Villa Marie

This charming boutique hotel literally made us feel like family guests at their home - we absolutely loved our stay perched in the hills overlooking the Mediterranean. August in St. Tropez can be hot so it was nice to have a cool respite in the hills.

Feeling French in our new Bardot dress. Standing in the front courtyard at Villa Marie punctuated by beautiful Cypress trees.
The most glorious sunrise at Villa Marie.

Lunches and Beach Clubs

Le Club 55

With a Provençal feel, packed with glamorous jet set and the original of all the beach clubs..it's a classic spot not to be missed.

Le Club 55 Stack.
The boutique at Club 55 also has a great little gift shop where found some cute beach bags & fun finds to bring home.

Les Palmiers

Les Palmiers in the bay of Ramatuelle may have been our favorite beach club.  The atmosphere was totally chic, the food was incredible & not to mention the DJ was spinning great music.  We followed lunch with beach beds (reserved in advance) and a dip in the Med. It was a perfect vibe.

Gigi

Gigi, also in Ramatuelle, was an amazing lunch experience with a beautiful pool.  We loved Gigi for the gorgeous decor, and a more relaxed and elegant atmosphere.  It also boasted a great boutique for shopping mid courses (!) There was live music which was such a treat and the food was top notch.  The homemade Nutella waffle à partager was unforgettable.

Indie Beach

Indie Beach was another great spot, with a relaxed bohemian mood. We learned that this beach club has a really fun dinner hour with music which we plan to try next trip!

Shopping

St. Tropez has great shopping - from the big names like Hermes & Loewe to local French boutiques with unique finds.  The bi-weekly marché in the Place des Lices (happens every Tuesday & Saturday) with everything from fresh baguettes and flowers to carved horn utensils and provençal soaps was a lively morning activity...I always love treasure hunting!

Nightime in St. Tropez

On our way to La Petite Plage...I highly recommend it for a dinner by the Port and to walk along the marina and admire all of the mega yachts.

Salama is a favorite as I have a penchant for Moroccan cuisine and love the French ties to this magnificent culture.
And, last but not least...L'Opera. It is big and loud and over the top but worth a visit if you want to get your fill of flashy & fun St. Tropez with good food and live dancing...oh la la!
à la prochaine...xx Ashley
